All training plans were halted in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions with regards gatherings imposed by Government Authorities. In January 2021, the Training Centre made provisions to deliver the course online, and successfully conducted the inaugural version of the training with a cohort of 12 participants, representing six (6) local organisations.  The group comprised representatives from Allied Protection Limited, Caribbean Broilers Group, Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited, Kingston Wharves Limited, Quest Security Services Limited and Security Administrators Limited. Advanced Port Facility Security Officers (Advanced PFSO) Certification Course

Shipping Industry Brought Up To Date On Container Security

Members of the shipping industry were last week briefed on issues related to container security on the Port of Kingston. The briefing was conducted by the United States Container Security Initiative team in Kingston, during the Shipping Association of Jamaica’s (SAJ) Lunch and Learn Seminar on Wednesday, July 17. The team suggested new ways to secure shipments and minimise tampering. Representatives from the Jamaica Customs Department were also on hand to answer questions posed by the participants.
