All training plans were halted in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions with regards gatherings imposed by Government Authorities.
In January 2021, the Training Centre made provisions to deliver the course online, and successfully conducted the inaugural version of the training with a cohort of 12 participants, representing six (6) local organisations. The group comprised representatives from Allied Protection Limited, Caribbean Broilers Group, Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited, Kingston Wharves Limited, Quest Security Services Limited and Security Administrators Limited.
The training was delivered in two-hour sessions, twice weekly (5:30-7:30 p.m.) for four weeks. In the fifth week, we conducted a face to face sessions consisting of demonstrations and briefings at Security Administrators Limited (SAL) Training Centre, located at 5 Third Street, Newport West, Kingston 13, Jamaica, West Indies, as well as a tour of an ISPS certified port. Personnel from Narcotics Division and National Intelligence Bureau of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Shipping Association of Jamaica Canine Division conducted briefings and demonstrations. All stipulated protocols prescribed by the Government were observed.
The PFSO Certification Course is endorsed by the Maritime Authority of Jamaica, the Caribbean Maritime University, the Shipping Association of Jamaica, the Caribbean Shipping Association of Jamaica and Kingston Wharves Limited.
